HbA1c unit converter: % to mmol/mol
Convert HbA1c reporting units using the NGSP–IFCC master equation.
Formula & units
HbA1c (%) = 0.09148 × HbA1c (mmol/mol) + 2.152
The inverse is HbA1c (mmol/mol) = [HbA1c (%) − 2.152] ÷ 0.09148. Units change; the underlying laboratory result does not.
Worked example
HbA1c 7% converts to 53.0 mmol/mol after rounding.
What the result can tell you
HbA1c unit conversion is different from estimating average glucose. Do not enter blood glucose in mmol/L into an HbA1c mmol/mol field.

Questions about HbA1c unit converter
Are mmol/L and mmol/mol the same?
No. Blood glucose commonly uses mmol/L. HbA1c uses mmol/mol in IFCC reporting. They describe different quantities and require different conversions.
